“There’s nothing like a jolly good disaster to get people to start doing something.” – Prince Charles
Disaster Recovery Options
There are several options for disaster recovery that you can use to protect your customers. Some include synchronous and asynchronous replication, backing up to a local device such as tape or disk, and backing up to the cloud.
Synchronous and asynchronous replication: Both of these are real-time replication where copies of your data are replicated off-site as it is created. The advantage to this method is that it gives your customer an immediate offsite backup. However, it can be an expensive process that is difficult to configure and requires a reliable connection.
Local backup to either disk or tape: This is the traditional backup that many of your customers have used for years. The biggest risk of this method is what happens when on-site backups are destroyed during a disaster. For many businesses, this method imposes too much risk.
Cloud backup: The last option is a cloud backup which allows a managed service provider (MSP) to back up a customer’s data to a secure internet location. The cost is lower than most other options and it is easier to implement.
CloudBerry Managed Backup Services allow MSPs to provide a reliable backup solution that can be automated and monitored from a central management console. This cross-platform cloud backup can backup Windows, Linux, Macs, and more and will work with major cloud services including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
